In order to meet the growing demands of our QA team, Sven joined Osudio in December 2018 as Chapter Lead Quality Assurance. Previously he worked for six years as a software developer and team lead at trivago and the agency TWT Interactive GmbH, where he was responsible for Enterprise Content Management (EMCS). We sat down with Sven and fired some questions at him.
As a Chapter Lead Quality Assurance I am responsible for the quality assurance of our customer solutions. My duties include not only the professional leadership and improvement of our standards, but also the support and promotion of my team in order to meet customer requirements at its best.
My position implicates a lot of responsibilities and very different tasks which always also include new challenges. In the short time that I'm in now, I've been able to handle a lot of challenging tasks and was already able to make a difference. I enjoy the possibilities and the scope that I am offered to move Osudio forward. The most important thing, however, is the cooperation with the colleagues, whom I really appreciate. Teamwork is the key to mastering projects successfully and, of course, to have fun at work as well.
I started at Osudio in December and currently there is no "typical workweek". That's because there are a lot of different tasks to do. For the moment, I am mainly working to expand my team to meet our customers' growing needs and improve our standards. This includes, amongst others, to conduct job interviews with potential new colleagues and to work on new topics with the team.
My job also includes sharing knowledge and ideas with our other locations and customers, often remotely, e.g. by Skype or on-site.
I am proud that I am a self-learner and have taken care of my career myself so far. After my long time with trivago I have now arrived at Osudio, where I have taken over the quality assurance. I am looking forward to the new challenges and to bring our projects to a successful conclusion.
That depends on the customer project. By default, we use Jira with the X-Ray extension for planning and managing our test cases as well as Confluence for documentation. In addition to manual testing, automatic testing also plays an important role. Most of our solutions are web-based, which is why we rely on the Robot Framework. On top of that we use QF-Test to test e.g. automatically control Java based clients. Challenging are our print customers, where we monitor the generation of catalogs.
I am convinced of the familiarity, the agile structures and the will to improve constantly. I experience this here every day and I enjoy coming to work. Not everything is perfect, but together we are on our way to continue improving.
